History & Mission

The Woman's Club of Mars, a service oriented social group, has worked for the community since its inception in 1926.

The Club began as a small reading group known as "The Literary Club of Mars." Two years later it joined with the General Federation of Woman's Clubs, and several years later changed its name to "The Woman's Club of Mars."

The women of the Literary Club used their own books to form a small volunteer public library that evolved into the present Mars Area Public Library. The library has always been a major focus of the Club.  The Women's Club purchased many books, provided a variety of furnishings, and donated money to the building fund, as well as given encouragement and time.

The Women's Club of Mars is currently looking new members.  If you are looking for an excellent volunteering opportunity, please consider joining.

In Memory: Shirley Pinkerton

Library Supporter & Woman's Club of Mars Member.  Lovingly referred to as the "Doll Lady"
