STORY TIME

WHAT IS THE ADULT'S ROLE?
Adult bringing a child/children ages 0-3 must attend the program. Adults bring a child/children ages 4+ must remain in the library during the program.

Parents and caregivers benefit from Story Time by:
  • Observing library staff demonstrate good read-aloud skills 
  • Noting age-appropriate books, music, songs, and activities 
  • Attending regularly
  • Arriving a few minutes early
  • Participating when encouraged to do so
  • Encouraging children to choose books to check out and share at home
  • Asking library staff for help in choosing age-appropriate books and music
  • Discussing stories with children afterword
  • Repeating rhymes and songs with children
  • Taking an upset child out of the program area until he or she calms down
  • Not bringing food or toys to the Story Time
WHAT CAN CAREGIVERS & PARENTS EXPECT?
Story Time Programs introduce children to books, rhymes, music, and other fun activities at age appropriate levels.
Story Times incorporate early literacy skills that help children learn to read: 
  • vocabulary
  • letter recognition
  • print awareness and motivation
  • narration
  • phonological awareness​
Story Times for older preschoolers includes a craft.
Baby Bounce & Play

Fridays at 10:30am: January 10, 17, 24, 31  |  February 7, 14  |  March 6, 13, 27
Start literacy and early learning skills from birth. Bring your baby for a story, rhymes, lap bounces, and songs followed by play and parent talk.
Story Tots
Wednesdays at 10:30am: January 8, 15, 22, 29.  February 5, 19, 26.  March 4, 11
Stories, songs, and flannels for 1-3yrs
Story Time
