Interior Improvements

Thanks to a generous donation, our library was able to purchase additional shelving for our children's room. This will allow for up to 50% growth of our Juvenile Fiction collection as well as additional shelving for our picture books and Young Adult collection.

Volunteer Pat Floro puts away children's books

Volunteers Pat and Mike Floro spend every Monday afternoon helping to shelve and organize our children's room after a busy morning of story time, play and book selections. They are two of our eight regular volunteers who help us every week.

With money raised in 2022, new digital signage was added this year to our Grand Ave. garden area.

Thank you to Jill Welsh for volunteering her talents and repainting our mural, which was first painted by her group, the Letterheads, in 2002.

MAPL Board organized the 2nd Annual Libations for the Library event, and with the help of the community, they raised $6,500 for future building improvements.

Summer Reading Success

As of August 1, 2023, 3,512 individuals attended 187 in-person library events and MAPL distributed 1,572 educational take and make activity kits. 540 people participated in our annual summer reading challenge.

We're always striving to meet the needs of our community. Kelsey, our Program and Outreach Librarian, created Reading Rangers, a weekly summer program for beginning readers to practice reading stories aloud and participate in skill-building activities. This program helps young students build their literacy fluency and prevents the ‘summer slide.’

Your generosity gives us the power to make a positive impact in the community we serve!

Your gift is an investment in our future. Our little library is busier than ever, making the need even greater. Your gift, no matter what size, helps strengthen our services.

We invite you to give to the Mars Area Public Library 2023 Annual Fund Drive and keep the momentum going strong as we head into 2024 together.

With grateful appreciation,
