From the safety of your armchair-turned-rocketship, you’ll witness celestial phenomena that stretch the limits of our understanding and inspire a sense of wonderment at the vastness and complexity of the universe.

Embark on a thrilling underwater expedition without ever leaving the comfort of your armchair in this week’s installment of Armchair Adventures! Delve into the deepest depths of the ocean as we uncover the mysteries of a world so unique and mesmerizing that it will leave you breathless. Join us as we introduce you to The Octopus Lady, who will be your guide through the wonders of the deep sea. Through a captivating video, she will lead you on a journey to an underwater ecosystem teeming with life, where a single wrong move means instant death. But that’s not all- she’s also here to share fascinating insights into one of the coolest, and confusing, marine organisms around, siphonophores!

This week, Armchair Adventures invites you to join the intrepid Safiya Nygaard as she embarks on two thrilling escapades that will leave you spellbound. First stop: the most famous spa in Iceland, the Blue Lagoon. Safiya relaxes and explores what this spa has to offer, such as soaking in the mineral-rich, blue-tinged lagoon the spa is named after! But the adventure doesn't stop there! Hop aboard a virtual train journey from San Francisco to Chicago. As the landscape unfolds before your eyes, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of rolling hills, majestic mountains, and sprawling plains. So sit back, relax, and prepare for a journey of a lifetime without ever leaving your library!

First up on our time-traveling itinerary is a rendezvous with YouTube legend MatPat, who will take us on an extraordinary odyssey through the annals of time, all from the humble perspective of bread! But our time-traveling adventure doesn’t stop there! Journey to the enchanting El Morro National Monument with Milo Rossi, where echoes of the past reverberate through the ages. We’ll explore the grounds adorned with carvings dating back two thousand years, and marvel at how each one tells a story of triumph, resilience, and the enduring spirit of humanity.

Prepare to embark on a thrilling science-adjacent escapade with Evan and Katelyn! Join this dynamic duo as they delve into the world of viral life hacks and crafts to uncover the truth behind their effectiveness. In the first installment of this adventure, Evan and Katelyn tackle three intriguing candle hacks, one of which ends up being very dangerous! But the exploration doesn’t end there! Inspired by their discoveries in the first video, Evan and Katelyn venture into uncharted territory as they try making a one thousand wick candle! So grab your lab coat and safety goggles and join us for an adventure like no other!

Join us for a spine-tingling yet awe-inspiring adventure as we delve into the mysterious world of caves! Paleoclimatologist Dr. Gina Moseley offers a captivating glimpse into the behind-the-scenes efforts of a team of intrepid scientists as they navigate through the treacherous terrain of one of the world’s most remote caves in search of stalagmite samples. If you prefer to admire the beauty of more accessible caves, our program also includes a look at the fifteen most beautiful caves in the world! From shimmering stalactites to crystal-clear pools, these breathtaking vistas will tempt even the most cautious adventurer to venture below ground.
